Ocean blue pashmina shawl in cashmere and silk

A pashmina shawl in ocean blue, woven in 60% cashmere and 40% silk. The finished shawl is 200 x 90 cm and weighs 94 grams — wide enough to wrap properly, light enough to forget you are carrying it.

The cashmere measures 15 µm and the silk arrives as one long filament off the cocoon. Because silk absorbs colour differently from cashmere, the blend has a melange in the colour and a light sheen, where a pure cashmere shawl is matte. It works as a scarf doubled at the neck and as a stole over the shoulders, which is what the 90 cm width buys you. Handwoven at our own weaving mill in Nepal, with the rest of the silk and cashmere shawls.

Care: The silk content makes this shawl delicate when wet, so wash it by hand at 30–40°C with a mild liquid soap, one piece at a time. Powder detergent does not always dissolve and can damage silk. Do not wring it: press the water out gently and dry the shawl flat on a towel, away from direct sunlight, since silk has little resistance to UV light.
