Lime green pashmina shawl in cashmere and silk

A pashmina shawl in lime green, woven in 60% cashmere and 40% silk. The blend is what makes the colour behave the way it does: silk and cashmere absorb dye at different rates, so the cloth carries a melange depth, and the silk brings a lustre pure cashmere never has.

Basket weave, natural fringes at both ends, and 94 grams across a full 90 x 200 cm. That combination of size and weight is the point of a shawl like this — enough cloth to wrap properly, little enough weight that you forget you are wearing it.

It is handwoven at our own weaving mill in Nepal, from cashmere of 15 micron.

Care: Cashmere mixed with silk asks for a mild wash. Do it by hand in lukewarm water with a detergent made for wool and silk, and resist rubbing or wringing the cloth. Lift the water out with a towel, dry the shawl flat and out of direct sunlight, and never tumble dry it.
