A pashmina shawl woven in 60% cashmere and 40% silk, in sage green. The cashmere is 15 µm fine and silk comes off the cocoon as one long filament, so the cloth stays light even at 200 x 90 cm — the whole shawl weighs 94 grams.
Silk takes up dye differently from cashmere, so a blend of the two has a light sheen and a subtle melange in the colour where pure cashmere is matte. This one is woven in a basket weave. If you want to know where the silk itself comes from, we have written about silk and its origins.
The size is what makes it more than a scarf: doubled around the neck, opened out as a stole over a dress, or simply across the shoulders indoors. It is handwoven at our own weaving mill in Nepal — see the rest of the silk and cashmere shawls.
Care: The silk in the blend is delicate when wet, so treat this shawl as silk rather than as plain cashmere. Wash it by hand at 30–40°C, one piece at a time, with a mild liquid soap — powder does not always dissolve and can damage silk. Do not wring or bunch it up: press the water out gently and dry it flat on a towel. Silk has little resistance to UV light, so dry and store it away from direct sunlight. Our care instructions cover the cashmere side.
