A scarf handwoven in pure cashmere, in ocean blue. It is a twill weave, the pattern of fine diagonal ribs running across the cloth, and that structure is what gives a twill scarf its particular drape — it falls in soft folds rather than hanging flat, and catches the light along the ribs.
At 70 x 200 cm it is the standard scarf size, and the most versatile one: long enough to loop twice at the neck, wide enough to open out over the shoulders when you want the coverage instead. The fibre is a fine 15 µm. Compare it with the other colours in twill weave.
It is handwoven at our own weaving mill in Nepal, on traditional handlooms — the diagonal ribs are set up thread by thread on the loom, not printed or pressed in afterwards. Our pashmina guide compares twill with the other weaves we use.
Care: A scarf rarely needs washing — airing it is usually enough. When it does, hand wash in lukewarm water with a wool detergent, without rubbing, then roll it in a towel to take out the water and dry it flat. No tumble dryer. If it needs smoothing, a steamer is kinder to a woven scarf than an iron. Our washing and care page has the full method.
