Small cashmere scarf in dark grey

Fifty grams. That is the whole scarf — 150 x 30 cm of 100% cashmere that folds down to almost nothing in a bag and comes back out without much to show for it.

The weight comes from the fibre: cashmere at 15 µm, woven in twill, which gives warmth out of very little material and a soft, diagonal-grained cloth rather than a stiff one.

Care: Air it outdoors instead of washing it whenever the scarf is not genuinely dirty. Otherwise wash with a detergent for wool and cashmere, by hand in lukewarm water or on the wool programme at 30 degrees, without rubbing, and dry it flat on a towel. Never tumble dry.
