Light grey giant shawl in cashmere 200 x 140 cm

Cashmere at shawl scale: 200 x 140 cm, woven in light grey from pure cashmere. Nearly three square metres of cloth weighing 130 g, which is why a shawl this size still folds into a bag.

The width is what makes it useful. Over the shoulders it works as a wrap; folded lengthwise it wears like a wide scarf; opened out it covers the knees on a long flight or an evening on a terrace. The yarn is 15 µm cashmere and the weave is twill, so the cloth drapes and folds rather than standing away from the body. It sits with the rest of our extra large shawls.

Handwoven in our own weaving mill in the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal.

Care: A shawl this size rarely needs more than an airing outdoors overnight. When it does need washing, use a detergent intended for wool and cashmere, wash by hand in lukewarm water or on your machine's wool programme, and dry it flat on a towel — never in a tumble dryer, and don't wring the water out.
