Black knitted cashmere scarf

A scarf knitted in pure cashmere, in black. Cashmere holds heat at a fraction of the weight of ordinary wool, and at this fineness the scarf can be wound close around the throat without any prickle at all.

It measures 180 x 50 cm — long enough to loop once and still leave both ends hanging, or to wear open over a coat. Black is the easiest colour to pair with a coat you already own, and it carries just as well indoors as out. The yarn is spun from 15 µm cashmere fibre from Inner Mongolia; our cashmere page covers how that fibre is gathered and graded.

Care: Wash with a wool detergent, either by hand in lukewarm water or on your machine's wool programme at 30°C, and avoid rubbing the knit — that is what makes wool felt. Dry it flat on a towel so the weight of the water cannot pull it out of shape, and keep it out of the tumble dryer. Pills that appear with wear come off with a cashmere comb.
