Silver grey tartan scarf

A tartan scarf in pure lambswool, in silver grey. The wool comes from the sheep's first shearing, which is what makes lambswool finer than wool from a later clip.

It is woven in twill, a diagonal weave, and measures 180 x 35 cm — slightly shorter than our standard scarf length, and easy to wear under a jacket collar without extra bulk. Silver grey sits with almost anything already in a wardrobe, which is the practical argument for a grey tartan over a louder one.

Care: Airing the scarf outdoors overnight handles most of what a wash would. When it does need washing, use a wool and cashmere detergent, by hand in lukewarm water or on the wool programme at 30 degrees, and dry it flat on a dry towel instead of hanging it soaking wet.
