Checkered scarf in multi coloured

A multi coloured check in pure lambswool, woven in Scotland. Lambswool comes from the first shearing of the sheep, which is what makes it soft enough to wear against the neck and hard-wearing enough for everyday use.

The cloth is woven in twill. In a twill the weft is stepped across by one thread with each pass, so the binding runs on the diagonal instead of straight over and under — you can read about twill and the other basic weaves in our weaving guide. At 180 x 25 cm this is a long, slim scarf: narrow enough to knot under a coat collar, long enough to loop twice and still hang.

Find it alongside the rest of our wool scarves and shawls.

  • Composition: 100% lambswool
  • Colour: Multi coloured
  • Weaving pattern: Twill
  • Size: 180 x 25 cm
  • Country of origin: Scotland

Care: Wash lambswool by hand in lukewarm water, or on the wool programme at 30 degrees, using a detergent made for wool and cashmere. Avoid rubbing it, as wool felts. Press the water out rather than wringing, and dry it flat on a dry towel — never in the tumble dryer. If pills form where the scarf rubs against a coat, lift them off with a cashmere comb. Full instructions are on our washing and care page.
