Blue jacquard woven cashmere/silk shawl

A jacquard woven stole in blue, made from 60% cashmere and 40% silk. Jacquard is a weaving technique named after its inventor, Joseph Marie Jacquard, and it is what allows a pattern to be built into the cloth itself rather than printed onto it. Woven in a cashmere and silk blend, the pattern catches the light, since silk reflects where cashmere stays matte.

The stole measures 70 x 200 cm, the size that works as a scarf, a wrap and a shoulder covering in turn. It is the kind of piece that earns its place at a wedding or another formal occasion, and then keeps being worn long after.

Care: Wash a cashmere and silk blend by hand in lukewarm water with a mild detergent suited to wool and silk. Never rub or wring the cloth; press the water out in a towel, then dry it flat and out of direct sunlight. The tumble dryer will ruin it.
