Cashmere shawl in gray spray pattern

A shawl in pure cashmere, spray-patterned in grey and woven in twill. At 200 x 70 cm there is enough cloth to wear it as a proper shawl — draped over the shoulders and held at the front — and still fold it down to scarf width when you want it around the neck instead.

The twill weave sets the threads on a diagonal, which is what keeps a light cloth from hanging flat; our weaving page goes through the technique. Grey sits alongside the other shades in the spray pattern series.

Care: Air the shawl outdoors rather than washing it whenever it is not genuinely dirty. For a wash, use a detergent intended for wool and cashmere — by hand in lukewarm water, or on the wool programme at 30 degrees. Squeeze the water out without twisting the fabric, dry it flat on a towel, and never tumble dry it. See our washing and care page for the whole method.
