Dark blue cashmere shawl with paisley print

A shawl in pure cashmere with a printed paisley pattern. Paisley is built from curved, teardrop-shaped figures; it has gained iconic status in fashion and been repeated in countless variations since. Here it is printed on a dark blue ground.

The cloth under the print is woven in twill, from cashmere fibre measuring 15 µm. At 90 x 200 cm this is a wide shawl — wide enough to be worn as a wrap across the shoulders rather than only wound around the neck, and long enough to fall well down the front of a coat or a dress.

It is handwoven at our own weaving mill in Nepal. More of the pattern is collected under paisley shawls, and handwoven scarves and shawls describes how the cloth is made before it is printed.

Care: Hand wash or use a wool programme at 30 °C with a detergent made for wool, never tumble dry, and dry the shawl flat on a towel. A garment steamer is kinder to a printed cashmere fabric than an iron. Our washing and care page also covers pilling.
