Pink tartan scarf

A tartan scarf in rose, woven in Scotland from lambswool. At 190 x 35 cm it is a long, narrow scarf – enough length to loop once and still knot, without bulk under a collar.

Tartan is the pattern of intersecting stripes in different colours, woven here in rose. The pattern has been made in Scotland since long before anyone attached clan names to particular setts, and it remains one of the few patterns that reads as both traditional and current. Our full tartan scarves selection sits alongside the rest of the scarves.

The binding is twill, where the groups of threads shift with each pass of the weft so a diagonal runs through the cloth. The yarn is lambswool – wool from a sheep's first shearing, and one of the finer wools we work with. There is more of it in fine wool.

  • Composition: 100% lambswool
  • Colour: Rose
  • Weave: Twill
  • Size: 190 x 35 cm
  • Woven in: Scotland

Care: Air the scarf rather than washing it unless it is actually dirty. For washing, use a wool detergent – by hand in lukewarm water, or the wool programme at 30 degrees – and avoid rubbing, which risks felting the wool. Dry it flat on a towel, not in the tumble dryer.
