pink tartan scarf

A pink scarf in lambswool, woven as a tartan. The check is built from stripes of different colours crossing one another in the weave, which is what distinguishes a woven tartan from a printed one.

At 190 x 35 cm it has enough length to wrap twice and enough width to open out across the collar, so it works both as a scarf you knot and as one you simply let hang.

It is woven in twill, the binding whose offset rows give the cloth its diagonal structure — described in our weaving guide. The scarf is made in Scotland.

Care: Wash the scarf by hand in lukewarm water or on the wool programme at 30 degrees with a detergent intended for wool and cashmere. Do not rub or wring the wool, dry it flat on a dry towel, and never put it in the tumble dryer. Any pills that form where it rubs against a coat can be removed with a cashmere comb.
