Plum cashmere pom hat with faux-fur ball

Cashmere is what makes a winter hat worth owning: warm and light at once, and gentle against the forehead in a way coarser wool never quite manages. The yarn here is graded at 15 microns, which places it among the finer cashmere qualities — our page on cashmere production explains what that number means and why it decides the price. Care: Air the hat overnight instead of washing it whenever it is not actually soiled. When it does need a wash, use the wool programme at 30 °C, or lukewarm water by hand with a detergent made for wool and cashmere — washing by hand lets you keep the pom pom clear of the water. Press the water out without wringing and dry it flat on a towel; never use a tumble dryer. Pilling lifts away with a cashmere comb. The full routine is on our washing and care page.
