Dip-dye shawl in navy/turquoise

Dip dye is a simple idea executed patiently: the shawl is dyed so that two colours blend into one another rather than meeting at a line. This one runs between navy and turquoise, on a cloth woven from 100% cashmere at 15 µm.

It is woven in twill and it is a light shawl — these are the feather-light pieces of the collection, handmade in Kathmandu. At 90 x 200 cm it is wide enough to wear open across the shoulders over a dress, and light enough that it folds down to almost nothing in a bag, which makes it as much a summer-evening piece as a winter one.

Care: Air it outdoors overnight rather than washing it when it only needs freshening. For a wash, use a detergent intended for wool and cashmere — by hand in lukewarm water, or on the machine's wool programme at 30 degrees.
