Checkered cashmere shawl light/dark brown

A checked cashmere shawl in light and dark brown. The check is woven, not printed: the colours are carried in the warp and the weft and meet in the cloth itself, on handlooms at our own weaving mill in Nepal.

The cloth is pure cashmere at 15 µm, in a basket weave — the plain over-one, under-one crossing of warp and weft. At 90 x 200 cm this is a shawl rather than a scarf: wide enough to wear as a wrap across the shoulders, long enough to fold once and still cover.

Care: Hand wash in lukewarm water with a detergent intended for wool and cashmere, or use the wool programme at 30 degrees, and avoid rubbing — that is what felts cashmere. Dry it flat on a towel and never in a tumble dryer. Small pills come away easily with a cashmere comb. Full instructions are on our washing and care page.
