Checkered pashmina shawl in green, caramel, beige and grey

A checked shawl woven from half cashmere and half wool, in green, caramel, beige and grey. The cashmere is what you feel first — soft, warm for its weight — while the wool half gives the cloth enough substance to drape and hold a fold.

This one is woven in basket weave and measures 70 x 200 cm, weighing 142 g in total. That is generous enough to wear open across the shoulders as a wrap, and light enough to fold lengthways and wind twice around the neck instead. Care: Cashmere and wool both want the same handling. Air the shawl between wears; wash it only when it needs it, with a wool detergent, by hand in lukewarm water or on the machine's 30°C wool programme, and without rubbing the cloth — rubbing risks felting it. Dry it flat on a towel, keep it out of the tumble dryer, and use a steamer or an iron on the wool setting to smooth it. See our washing and care page for the details.
