Red scarf with white dots

A red scarf in pure wool, patterned with white dots. Wool holds warmth without much weight and recovers its shape after wearing, which is what makes a wool scarf one of the more practical things to own.

The scarf measures 180 x 70 cm — generous enough to fold double around the neck on a cold day, or to open out and wear across the shoulders when you only want something over your back.

It is woven in basket weave, a variant of plain weave where the threads are worked in groups rather than crossed singly, so the binding forms part of the surface pattern; the technique is described in our weaving guide. The scarf is made in India.

Care: Wash by hand in lukewarm water, or on the wool programme at 30 degrees, with a detergent made for wool and cashmere.
