Light grey scarf with black dots

A light grey scarf in pure wool, patterned with black dots. Wool insulates well and keeps its shape from one season to the next, so this is a scarf that stays in use rather than one you put away after a single winter.

It measures 180 x 70 cm. That width means it can be worn folded double and looped around the neck, or opened out and draped over the shoulders as a light wrap indoors.

The fabric is woven in basket weave, a variation of plain weave in which the warp and weft threads are grouped instead of crossing one by one, so the binding itself becomes part of the pattern. Our weaving guide explains how it is done. The scarf is made in India.

Care: Wash by hand in lukewarm water, or on the machine's wool programme at 30 degrees, using a detergent intended for wool and cashmere.
