Dark blue paisley scarf

The paisley teardrop has been repeated in so many variations over so many years that you recognise it before you can name it. This one is a printed paisley in dark blue, on cloth woven from 100% cashmere at 15 µm — a very soft ground for a pattern to sit on.

At 70 x 200 cm this is a scarf rather than a shawl — long enough to loop twice around the neck and still hang, narrow enough to sit under a coat collar without bulk. It is made in Nepal, where we run our own weaving mill.

Care: Air it outdoors rather than washing it whenever you can. For a real wash, use a detergent intended for wool and cashmere — by hand in lukewarm water, or on the machine's wool programme at 30 degrees — and dry it flat on a towel rather than in a tumble dryer.
