Red tartan shawl in cashmere and silk

A shawl woven from 60% cashmere and 40% silk, in red tartan. The cashmere carries the softness and the warmth; the silk brings strength and a quiet sheen to the surface.

It is woven in twill from 15 micron cashmere and carries the tartan pattern — the intersecting stripes in different colours that Scotland made its own. At 70 x 200 cm there is enough cloth to loop it twice at the neck or wear it open over a coat, and red tartan does what a plain scarf cannot: it finishes an outfit rather than just warming it. Care: Cashmere and silk both want gentle handling. Hand wash in cool water with a detergent made for wool and cashmere, never wring the cloth, and dry it flat away from direct sunlight. Our washing and care instructions have the rest.
