Oversize tartan scarf in charcoal

An oversize tartan scarf in charcoal, woven in Scotland from pure lambswool. At 70 cm across it is wide enough to work as a small shawl as well as a scarf: worn open it covers the shoulders, folded once it becomes a substantial scarf with real bulk at the neck.

Lambswool comes from the sheep's first shearing and keeps the fineness and spring that later fleeces lose. It insulates by trapping air in the crimped fibre, so the scarf stays warm without weighing much — useful in a piece this size, which could easily have been heavy. The full length is 190 cm.
