Lambswool comes from a sheep's first shearing, and that first fleece is finer than the wool of any shearing after it. These gloves are knitted from it in pure lambswool, in light blue, by Glen Prince in Scotland.
Knitted rather than cut and sewn, the glove stretches to the shape of the hand, which is why one size is enough. They are an everyday winter glove — the walk to work, the school run, the wait on a cold platform. The rest of what we knit for the cold is under hats and gloves.
Care: Gloves rarely need washing — airing them outdoors overnight is usually enough. When they do, wash by hand in lukewarm water or on the machine's wool programme at 30 degrees, always with a detergent made for wool and cashmere. Never wring them out and never tumble dry; press the water out and dry them flat on a towel. Full instructions are on our washing and care page.
