Extra large cashmere / silk shawl in curry yellow

An extra large shawl in 60% cashmere and 40% silk, curry yellow. The two fibres do different work: the cashmere carries the warmth and the softness, the silk adds the smoothness and the quiet sheen that cashmere on its own does not have. It measures 250 x 200 cm, which is genuinely large — enough to wrap completely around the shoulders over a coat, and enough to serve as a light throw over a chair or across a bed when it is not being worn. The cloth is woven in basket weave.

Handwoven in our own weaving mill in Nepal, and shown alongside the rest of our extra large shawls.

Care: A cashmere and silk blend is best hand washed. Use lukewarm water and a detergent made for wool and delicate fibres, move the shawl gently rather than rubbing it, and press the water out instead of wringing — silk loses its smoothness if it is twisted. Dry it flat, away from direct sunlight and from radiators, and never put it in the tumble dryer. Between wearings, airing it outdoors overnight is usually enough.
