Care: Airing the sweater outdoors overnight handles ordinary wear and saves it a wash. When washing is needed, use a detergent intended for wool and cashmere — by hand in lukewarm water, or on the wool programme at 30 degrees — and avoid rubbing the knit, since that is what felts wool. Squeeze the water out without wringing, dry it flat on a towel, and keep it away from the tumble dryer. Pills that form where the knit rubs against a coat or bag come off with a cashmere comb.
