Care: Wool and cashmere need washing far less often than people assume — airing the sweater outdoors overnight deals with most wear. When it does need a wash, use a detergent made for wool and cashmere, by hand in lukewarm water or on the machine wool programme at 30 degrees, and avoid rubbing the knit, which risks felting it. Dry it flat on a towel, never in a tumble dryer. Where the sweater rubs against a bag or a coat it can pill; a cashmere comb lifts the pills off again.
