Purple and blue striped scarf in lambswool

This scarf is woven in pure lambswool and striped in purple and blue. Lambswool is taken at the sheep's first shearing, which makes it a finer wool than a later clip gives — fine enough to wear close to the skin.

The size is 190 x 35 cm, the standard length for a scarf that has to work under a coat: enough to wrap twice, narrow enough not to bundle at the throat. Purple and blue is an easy pair to place in a wardrobe that already leans towards denim, navy or grey.

Care: Airing the scarf outdoors overnight is usually enough between wears. For an actual wash, use a detergent intended for wool and cashmere and wash by hand in lukewarm water or on the machine's wool programme at 30 degrees — avoid rubbing the wool, which risks felting it.
