Blue tartan scarf with orange checkers

A tartan scarf woven in equal parts cashmere and wool, blue with orange checks. The even 50/50 blend is a practical one: the cashmere brings the softness and the wool brings the resilience, so the scarf can be worn hard through a winter without going limp.

It is woven in twill, the diagonal weave that gives tartan cloth its characteristic surface, and measures 70 x 200 cm at 142 g — a substantial winter scarf rather than a light one, long enough to wrap and still have length to spare. The cashmere in the blend is 15 µm. It comes from our own weaving mill in Nepal, where it is woven by hand — see handwoven scarves and shawls. There is more of the pattern under tartan scarves.

Care: Hand wash in lukewarm water with a mild wool detergent, press out the water without wringing and dry the scarf flat. A cashmere/wool blend worn often will pill a little at the friction points; our washing and care instructions explain how to take that off without damaging the cloth.
