Black scarf in silk mix with flowers

A large scarf in 70% modal and 30% silk, printed with flowers on black. Modal is a soft cellulose fibre that falls fluidly, and the 30% silk brings the smoothness that fibre is known for — the silk filament is smooth in a way wool and cotton are not, which is a large part of why silk feels the way it does.

At 200 x 100 cm this is as much a shawl as a scarf. It is wide enough to wear across the shoulders over a dress and long enough to wind several times around the neck when the evening turns cool. It is made in India.

Care: Treat it as silk, since silk becomes delicate when wet. Wash it on its own by hand at 30-40 degrees using a mild liquid soap rather than powder, do not wring or bunch it while it is wet, and press the water out before drying it flat on a cloth. Read more in our guide to silk and its origins.
