Checkered pashmina stole in grey and black

A stole in pure cashmere, woven in a grey and black check. The ground is a twill weave, so the check sits on the diagonal ribs that give twill its drape, and the two colours read differently depending on how the light falls. The cashmere is 15 µm.

At 112 grams over 70 x 200 cm it sits between our lightest summer stoles and our heavy twill scarves — enough substance for autumn and winter without becoming a blanket around the neck. A grey and black check is about as easy to place as patterns get: it works with a dark overcoat, and it works with the plain colours already in a wardrobe.

It is handwoven at our own weaving mill in Nepal. The rest of our patterned pieces are under checkers and stripes.

Care: Air the stole overnight rather than washing it whenever it is not genuinely dirty. For a wash, use a detergent intended for wool and cashmere — by hand in lukewarm water, or on the machine's wool programme at 30 degrees — and dry it flat on a dry towel.
